Kirsten Bengtson-Lykoudis (she/her/hers) serves as staff writer, archivist, and curator for NOT REAL ART. She enjoys rambling through NRA’s vast digital archive of contemporary artworks and getting to know the people behind them. After growing up in the Twin Cities, Kirsten darted between Florida, Russia, Sweden, New York, France, Italy, the Aegean Islands, and Washington, DC, before landing in Richmond, Virginia. A former New York gallery director, photographer, student of Russian literature, devout polyglot, and nonfiction writer, she is currently plotting her next trip to Greece.

Out of Bounds: Pushing the Lines Between Technology and Art

As a sequel to our popular Art and Tech exhibition in 2023, Out of Bounds investigates the rapidly evolving connections between imagination and machines in an era of explosive digital innovation. This virtual exhibition showcases artists who incorporate artificial intelligence, virtual reality, 3D modeling and printing, digital collage, web-based platforms, video, electronics, and animation into their work to explore the increasingly thin barriers between technology and art.

As technology reshapes how we create, communicate, and understand our world, this exhibition captures a pivotal moment in art history. These works challenge us to reconsider what’s possible when human creativity meets computational power.
