About Our Grant
Founded in 2019 and powered by Arterial, the NOT REAL ART Grant for Artists is a $12,000 annual award designed to empower the practice of 6 contemporary artists, each of whom receive $2,000. But, NOT REAL ART Grant winners get more than money. Each recipient gets to share their story and promote with exclusive, in-depth featured interviews on the NOT REAL ART podcast and blog. And, whether or not you receive our grant, every applicant automatically qualifies to be included in future blog stories, newsletters and our artist marketing database!

Overall, you are doing okay. However, all the emails revving us up for "the big announcement," triggers a stress response in me. I don’t want to be wound up and revved up for yet another rejection. NOT REAL ART Announces Its 2020 Grant Recipients:
It’s the kind of news everyone wants to receive at least once in their life – getting the news “you won!”. Today, six visual artists are about to get such positive news as they read this piece to learn they are the recipients of the 2020 NOT REAL ART Grant.
NOT REAL ART aspires to honor artists invaluable contributions to human culture by empowering their careers in meaningful, thoughtful and relevant ways. As an organization, NOT REAL ART exists to celebrate and elevate creative culture by empowering artists, helping artists tell their stories and promote their art.
NOT REAL ART Announces Its 2019 Grant Recipients:
Grant recipients are selected based on a written application and artwork samples. Recipients demonstrate a strong sense of ingenuity, emotion and craft in their work.
Recipients were announced on March 16, 2019 in Los Angeles at the NOT REAL ART Conference for Creators, presented in partnership with Art Share LA.
Questions About Our Grant?
The Not Real Art 2024 Grant Program is an initiative sponsored by the Crewest Studio, LLC that offers six unrestricted grants of $2,000 each to eligible artists.
The grant is open to practicing visual artists working in a two-dimensional medium, who are at least 21 years old and are residents of the United States.
You need to complete the submission process through the official website, providing at least three and no more than five works as part of your application.
No, collaborative works cannot be submitted. The submitted works must be the original work of the artist making the application.
If you are selected as a grant recipient, you will receive a single payment of $2,000. You may use the granted funds for any purpose at your own discretion.
No, prior Not Real Art grant recipients are not eligible for the 2024 program.
A panel of reviewers, selected by Not Real Art and Crewest Studio, will evaluate all eligible submissions. The process includes a subjective assessment of your materials and artworks.
